I love to talk vintage! Just ask my husband, who really has no interest but listens to me anyway. Or my kids who really have no concept yet of vintage. To them, the 2010's are basically ancient history. Or my poor hairdresser who had to listen to me go on and on yesterday about the creating of Happy Tidings and my latest estate sale adventures. To her credit, she did an excellent job feigning interest.

I get it, not everyone gets excited by vintage felt reindeer or finding a mint condition pyrex bowl out in the wild. That's why I created this blog and took Happy Tidings to Facebook and Instagram--to find my people. If you're reading this, you're likely one of them.

When I started this, I thought I'd write the occasional blog post and engage with other vintage lovers on social media. The one thing I didn't imagine doing was video.

I've never liked being on camera. It reminds me how awkward and dorky I can be. I have had such a strong aversion to being on camera, that I changed my childhood dream--to be the real-life Murphy Brown. Instead I followed in the path of one of my other television idols--Mary Richards.

I found as a news producer, I still got to tell stories and break news without worrying what I looked like doing it. Behind the camera is always where I've been most comfortable.

Well I'm about to venture out of that comfort zone.

Recently I purchased a lot of Christmas items from a local auction. I had no idea what was included, and couldn't wait to unpack it all. It would be like Christmas morning for me. Then, I thought if it was going to bring me that much happiness, others might find at least a spark of joy in it themselves (Vintage Christmas unboxing is certainly something I'd watch). So, I took a big leap, and recorded it.

I just finished editing the first video. And, while I still don't really like being on camera, it was fun to share the experience with others.

So, if you're so inclined, here it is to watch. And remember, I'm new to this so please be easy on me.

Who knows? I might just make it after all (hat toss). LOL!

Happy watching & Happy Tidings!
